Glass Domes

McDanel Advanced Material Technologies optical domes are used in a wide range of demanding applications where other products do not stack up.  Our proprietary advanced glass molding and polishing techniques produce industry leading results while being much more cost efficient than typical domes produced by precision grinding and polishing from bulk materials.  Our engineers have vast experience working with our customers to create the best material, shape, and design for their needs.  The quality of our domes ensure that you will not have issues with distortion, haziness, reduced transmission, chromatic aberration, or Fresnel Reflections, making it a superb choice for PTZ camera systems.  Our exceptional quality also leads to the high mechanical reliability needed for domes and spherical windows for deep sea vehicles (AUVs and ROVs).  And finally, our vast size capabilities ensure that we can provide domes needed for almost any application. Where most domes are traditionally available in sizes up to approximately 430mm in diameter, McDanel’s advanced molding and polishing capabilities allow up to provide high quality optical domes up to 2m in diameter and 1m in height.

Key Features
  1. Premium quality and long-term reliability: McDanel’s optical domes have exceptional clarity and mechanical properties allowing our customers to reduce down-time.
  2. Proven deep sea performance: Our optical domes and spheres are trusted to be used in autonomous and remotely operated underwater vehicles (AUV and ROV) in high-pressure, deep-sea environments.
  3. Unparalleled size: We are able to mold and polish domes up to 2m in diameter and 1m in height. Our expertise in handling these large products allows us to keep costs down by avoiding costly mistakes.
